Where?
OK, Germany is just too far to travel just to stay in a cool hotel, but look at this room. This one looks like a cross between a tree house and a cage, and it has a super tub!

Projects Update
Well, I did finish my Crafster swap, and mailed it on time, but better not post the pix until they've recieved it.
My creative juices are flowing after the workshop with the comic book artist.

Second Verse...
Getting set to leave for my second official day. Came home dead-dog tired, worked on my Crafster swap, and off to bed. The munchkins are on spring break, and I dreamed they stayed awake all night talking, which is almost what it felt like. But my body is quickly getting used to the routine, I woke up before my alarm today.
Orientation is a necessary evil, I know, but I have to admit I get freakishly excited when they pass out big packets of information. Today I think I actually get to meet the folks I'll be working with. If only for a moment. Then back to more classwork tomorrow and Thursday.
Plus, today is my younger son's birthday. So now they're officially 13 and 11. Teen and Tween. No more 'children' in this house. Life is grand.

Goal
OK, I'm ready to admit my creative goal to the world! I've been working up to unveiling this for a while, and am compelled to do it tonight, before my first day of my new job tomorrow.
So here it is:
I am going to become a Certified PMC teacher, teach PMC classes and sell PMC jewelry. See goal page here.
I don't know why this is so difficult to write about, I guess the fear of failing. A goal that is never admitted aloud can be forgotten about and no one would know. So I make this public, because I do not intend to let anything get in the way. Baby steps, of course, but it's gonna happen.

The Lady or The Tiger
In an essay I wrote in college, I likened creativity to, among other things, "opening the door on the lady or the tiger." I've been thinking about that recently, and I've decided that not just creativity is the opening of the door, but all the decisions we make.
Some decisions are pretty obvious: running a red light would be much more the tiger, stopping would be the lady. Others aren't so telling: eating the leftovers that you don't remember how long they've been in the fridge. :P
Even though we don't think about the little decisions we make every day, all our decisions could go either way. There is excitement in the unknowing, and in the opening of the door itself.

Someone's laughing
Car watching is just a normal thing in our family. My grandma likes PT Cruisers, and points them out on car trips or prizes on The Wheel. The kid's play 'slug bug' just like we all did when we were kids. I love Mustangs (and have been known to date boys for no other reason). I'm sure others watch for certain car types, right?
Well, I decided that someone at GM must have a very warped sense of humor in naming their giant jeep-things the same name as a sex act.
It was very difficult for me to keep a straight face recently, at lunch with my retired-and-roaming parents who've just returned from a three month trip of volunteer work and vacationing, and my mother said they "had eight Hummers" but she didn't remember if that was in one day or one week.

Projects Update
Didn't get a lot actually done this week, project-wise, mostly working on the planning stages of things. Found a skirt pattern I'm going to try. Any helpful hints appreciated. Working on a Crafster swap, that has to remain secret until sent.
And went to the University Place Art Center to check out a work-in-progress collection by a friend of mine. In the main gallery there were some fantastically inspiring glass works, and I think I accidentally met the artist.

Projects Update
This week, my projects table had to be cleaned off (which is a project in itself), to make room for a G4 with a cool new music program (which I haven't played with enough yet) to visit for a few days.
Also, got pictures posted of my latest ceramic project, the lamp holder I covered in beads, and a new experiment in computer art. Oh yeah, and I finally got a job.

No Thanks
I hope to never be featured here. Of course, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, I'm sure some of my stuff would qualify. And I'm not sure what the stipulations are to be 'featured' in this museum, some aren't too bad, just childlike in quality.
But even though I love the purpley-fusciay color, on a face, I'm not sure. And haven't they heard of red-eye reduction???

The Door Project
I don't think my friend J has yet read my blog, so I'm safe posting this before she's recieved her gift, but J, if you actually are reading this, stop now or you'll spoil the surprise.
The story of the door:
I was getting ready to paint a shadowbox shelf that I had bought like three years ago (as part of my DO-it-or-fling-it sorting out my project junk project), and I cut off the top flap. Which looked just like a door.
Hmmmm...
So this turned into a door wall hanging project. And do you know what it needed? The Perfect Quote! I searched for 'quotes door' and found a great Joseph Campbell 'following your bliss' quote, and I knew the project was meant for my friend J!
Trips to the store for drill bits for the Dremel, and tracing paper, and several experiments with lining up the word right, and it turned out pretty nice.

Color
Awsome color scheme tool. And you can even change the setting to see how the colors would look to someone color-blind.

Stuck in the Windmill
Last night I woke up in the middle of the night, and had a hella hard time getting back to sleep. The issue is also why I haven't been updating chez blog very often (or well) lately: I've really been in my head so much. Between having a mild sore throat off and on for a couple weeks, and basically having no one to talk to, I end up just swimming around and around in my own thoughts.
I hope both my readers ;) will forgive my lack of posting and will accept my pledge to 'get off the pot' soon.
