More cool stuff

Check this out.

This is very amazing. I usually can see optical illusions fairly well, you know, like which line is longer, but this one is very surprising.

The Concert

As promised...
I'm not much of a concert go-er. I didn't attend my first concert until my senior year of high school, and then it was my all-time favorite band (see, I've always had a thing for Bryan/Brians). My kids have already beat my record by attending their first concert at 14 and 12, respectfully. (Well, considering all the skanking and moshing, probably not so respectfully.) And most of the concerts I ever attended were the free ones in college. It's not that I don't enjoy music, 'cause you know I do, it's just I just never really got into that concert-going-including-spending-so-much-money scene. That all being said, I do enjoy a good concert, don't get me wrong. I've enjoyed many concerts on the ol' TiVo. I guess I like the crowd scene better when I'm watching.
But when you're favorite Americana artist, best gal, singer of some of your couple songs (both the romantic, and the hot), and all around great songwriter and performer comes to town, wait, not just to town, but to the beautiful Rococo you just can't miss a night like that!
Of course, I'm talking about the concert, a mere 20 days ago (again, sorry for the slow posting), the Lucinda Williams concert on the first of July (remember back then, when it wasn't quite this hot?).
The concert was phenomenal. She played her hits, and a lot of new stuff. A Lot. Plus, John Doe opened for her, and came out to sing on one of her songs. He's quite a rocker!
In addition to the great music, it was fun to people-watch. There was one guy, who stood out when we were still waiting to get in, he was loudly annoyed that the line had moved into the street, and yelled to the crowd to move to the sidewalk. I chuckled at him as the line started to move, 'a little too fussy' I thought as we went inside.
We were assigned to the balcony, and got into the second row, and skooched to the center, great, great seats overall, (though my silly short legs gave me fits by not reaching to the floor). Second row always means being behind someone else, and guess who was right in front of us? Move-to-the-sidewalk-guy! I decided to keep a positive attitude, he might be fun to watch, and he was no disappointment! This guy put his feet on the railing so his knees were up close to his body, so he could put his fingers in his ears and rest his elbows on his knees during the music! HUH? Um, Guy? You go to a concert to HEAR the music, why the hell are you putting your fingers in your ears?? OK, so he must have sensitive ears, so stay the frik home, dude! I enjoyed people-watching him, he'd sit normal when there was no music, or on a very quiet part, but when it got noisy, he'd jump into position and do the plug! I realized that my naughty self couldn't just let him be, and I plotted, and waited until the clapping at one point had started to quiet enough that he released his digits, and then I let out my I-love-loud-concerts whoop, after I leaned forward just a bit. I know, I'm terrible.

Plus

In my catching up on Blogging, I promise to post about:
The Concert and
The Book

The Big Project

Now that the blog is pretty again, I can get back to the goal of blogging more often. Besides template turn-off, these last several weeks I have also been in the middle of "The Big Project" (tm).
The Big Project included going through the storage section of the basement, and getting rid of things, in order to turn that part of the basement into a bedroom area, and get things out of the pay-as-you-store storage shed. So getting rid of some stuff to make room for other stuff. Heh.
The task seemed overwhelming at first. One of those I-don't-know-where-to-start things, but doing a chunk at a time got it all done. Finally. Tuesday was "moving day" with help from family, and a trailer to load. We had specific goals of what had to get moved, and hoped to get it all moved, and viola! we got it all moved. Of course, that night the living room was full of boxes, but at least the storage shed was empty. We have subsequently gotten all the boxes taken care of, and the living room is once more, well, livable. The basement is nice, the bedroom area met with approval of the sleepees, and the house feels more settled now.
Of course, there is still the bookshelf and other areas, more boxes will be going to the thrift store soon. But finishing The Big Project has given me inspiration, actually. I am inspired for one, to get the house completely organized, get things flung, to use the Fly Paper Lady (as she is known in our house) would say.
But even more, I'm thinking of doing a big push of getting art projects done, as in for the online store. Some of my on-line craft store heros have written about staying up all night to get stuff finished for their stores. Hmmmm. I know the three kinds of things I'm starting with, and I've decided I can't open the store unless I have at least five of each. Plus, the re-vamp of the website. I think I need to come up with a deadline to open the store. Then I can have "The Big Store Project" (tm). Hmm, what kind of deadline is workable? That's the pondering for today.

And

even though it does still have a few kinks to be worked out, I like the template. I'll finish the updates this week. I will definitely add and subtract some links. And I'm working with FreeHand, so I'll make some graphics soon!

Woo-Hoo

A comment from Anonymous let me know that the white space problem was something messed up on my template, and that was the kick in the butt to change the layout again. I had been miffed when my last background was all-of-a-sudden gone, and I didn't know where it went. So I had been not liking that layout ever since then.
I surfed around the last week to find some more free templates. The last one I had gotten here, and while I found the template fairly easy to use, I just didn't love any of the others enough to use. I tried a few other sites, and mostly didn't find any I loved, or the instructions just weren't clear enough (wasted half the day on that part). But then I decided to try one of these templates. Not only are they very nice looking, but the instructions were crystal. Plus, they work specifically for Blogger. I am even more inspired now to finally learn how to make templates myself. Perhaps I'll be able to share some that I've made someday.
Thanks, Richa for the cool template!

Useful

I like lists (shut up). I would like to redo my 43 things list to be more of a to-do list. More daily. More specific. A little less of the really long term goals, or the ‘finish things’ goals. Much more specific. Then I can check off things when they’re done. Yay!
