Workin' on it
I've been working on the site. I have some good pictures to use for backgrounds.
Do you ever kinda fall in love with a picture you took or a painting you did or something creative like that?
Is that weird? To really LOVE something you made?

Ch-ch-ch-changes
Of course, when I sat down last night to make some changes here, and that's when my blog got moved in the new Blogger update, so it was down for the night.
Looks good so far. But it's always to find your way around something new.

Bad Ad
I realize some people have TiVo, so they don't watch commercials anymore, but I've always enjoyed commercials. When they're good, that is. Like the monkeys talking on their banana phones. (huh-huh monkeys are funny)
But I've been really hating that "where's your mother?" ad out there. You know the one? Dad's a dufus who can't help the kid-who's-really-old-enough-to-dress-himself-by-himself get dressed. Mom's absent from the home--and who knows where she is??? And the house-no make that world-will fall apart because Dad doesn't know how to parent. How insulting to fathers.
So I was happy to discover that I'm not the only one out there hating it, Beer Mary and The Passionate Ailurophile have both posted about it, and provided a link to send your opinion to JC Penney. Please feel free to pass the link along, and of course, send in your two cents if so inclined.

BLAHG
I'm tired of my layout. I wish I'd learned enough CSS to make some skins, but I haven't gotten that far yet. Gonna move this blog to off blogspot soon. I found the instructions and I have the space. But I'm not sure how to handle the linkage. And not happy with the front page of the site yet either. Just passed the one-year mark with the blog, I've figured out several cool things, but haven't learned as much as planned. More to learn!
P.S.
If anyone has any helpful hints about moving my blog from blogspot to my own space, please feel free to fill up the comments section with them!

Flog
I've started my photo blog, finally, here.
I got my digital camera almost a whole month ago, and haven't taken pictures EVERY DAY, what's wrong with me??
I think I'll sign up for this, that seems like great fun!
And P.S. if a Web Log is a BLOG, why isn't a Photo Log a Phlog? Or, since I'm using Foto pages a FLOG?

From Bobbie
Bobbie always sends me the funniest things. Here's the latest advancement in the wiping out of pesky insects.
It warnes THIS IS NOT A TOY!. Yeah, right. It's not a toy, but a tool for the great white hunter who hunts from his cubicle.

Also Linked
Also reciently added to the blogroll:
Tenth-Muse and
the reverse cowgirl's blog.
Cleaned out a couple that either I don't read anymore (no offense) or they've stopped blogging.
And I noticed that I don't have any blogs rolled that start with K, Q, R, U, V, X, or Z. Now there's a goal to work on. Gotta find a few more cool blogs.
And speaking of cool blogs (nice segue, huh?), I really like this birthday girl's take on being in love. Very nice words.
Made me feel kinda mushy.
I know that look.
I love you, G.

Lazy Weekend
Yes, we got the new Harry Potter book. We left home Friday night about 11:00, got home around 1:00, and of course, had to read for another hour before hitting the hay. That started a nice lazy weekend, of sleeping late, reading, and playing games. The book's pretty good so far, already exciting. Still can't believe how big this book is, eight copies a second. Sheesh!

Links
On one of my daily-reads Davezilla today, I found this gem. There, among other cool things, found little men, a great cartoon (you may need to refresh to start it), and pin up art for Frank.

"A strong hatred is the best lamp to bear in our hands as we go over the dark place of life, cutting away the dead things men tell us to revere."
--writer Dame Rebecca West

-from my "Tough Dames" page a day calendar, not sure what exactly it means, anyone, anyone, Bueller????
(ps page a day calendars make great gifts. you can't help think of the thoughtful person who gave it to you every time you get to a new page)

Road Trip
OK, I'm a bit of a freak, I know, but I like to play "Name that dead animal" while driving long distances.
Here's how it goes: When you see something on the road or along-side the road, something like a lump, or just some dark blob, and you realize it probably is some road kill of some sort, then you try to guess what it is while you're still pretty far away from it. The farther away from it that you can figure out what it is, the more points you get, or if you can get others in the car to play too, who ever can guess first gets more points.
(But like that British improv show that most Americans think Drew Carey invented, which also makes a great party game, the points don't really matter.)
Mainly it's just another way to pass the time on a long car ride.
So this weekend, the road trip animal count was:
2 racoons
1 skunk
2 pheasants (one male, one female)
4 other birds (one dove under our tire)
0 bear &/or trashbag
3 unidentifiable
and
1 deer. nice big doe. waste of meat.
Don't normally get a deer. Never got a pheasant. Must be huntin' season. Somewhere.

BBQ & BB4
Big Brother 4 will start soon, I hope this one has characters contestents that I like. I didn't like BB2.
And I just saw this grill on tv and had to check it out. It even has a bottle opener! But the web page doesn't say how much it costs, which probably means it's expen$ive.

That's not your retna
At work, we have some new security features, since we've sold part of our building to another comany. Kinda weird, having to have a key to your hallway, and a new special name badge complete with picture and scanner. Around the corner from me is a scanner secured door, so when ever I go to get coffee or lunch, I have to hold my scan card up to the scanner on the wall. (Then the door's way heavy, so it's tough to get through, especially with the coffee)
So a lot of us wear the scan picture card as a pendent, around our neck, (me, I have a gorgeous hand made crystal beaded lariot), and I saw one guy come up to the scanner, and he didn't use his hands, he just stood close enough to make it beep and let him through. So I tried that. Except, being a woman of ample blessings, my card hangs just slightly too low, so when I go to the scanner, I have to arch my back a little, lift 'the gals' up a bit. Now I laugh every time I go through there, 'cause it's like, "Present Chest!"
Good thing I crack me up.

Quote of the week:(more like mantra)

"It's none of my business what you think of me."

Penguins
Remeber I mentioned the Bike project here, like the cows in Chicago, and J.Doe in Omaha? (I don't know how to link to my previous post, be a dear, and just scroll down a bit to find it.)
Look what the Tulsa Zoo did, statues of Penguins. How cool.

Oh, and by the way, this guy hates you.

Purple
You know that poem that starts out, "When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple?" (here's the whole poem, here's the history
Well, When I am an old woman, I will drive an art car! Like this, or this, or this.

Music
Looking for lyrics or chords for the Mad World song from Donnie Darko, my kids loved the movie and the song. Found this site that had the song, but ya had to download some program first. Well, OK, just for the sheet music for the kid, I thought, but wow, that's a very cool little free music writing/midi playing program.
